Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Jeffrey Marg, 27, Fall Creek, Wis., was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Conley to four years in prison for conspiracy to manufacture and distribute synthetic smokeable cannabinoid (synthetic marijuana). Marg pleaded guilty to these charges on July 24, 2012.

Marg was arrested on October 27, 2011. Marg possessed the Schedule I controlled substance JWH018 as well as the Schedule I controlled substance analog AM2201 and 4-MEC.

Marg conspired with Jeffery Coshow of Springbrook, Wis., to manufacture, distribute and possess with intent to distribute synthetic cannabinoids from August 1, 2011, to October 27, 2011 in the Western District of Wisconsin. Coshow was previously sentenced on May 29, 2012, to three years in prison.

The charges against Marg and Coshow were the result of an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration; Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation; Eau Claire Police Department; Washburn County Sheriff’s Department; and Sawyer County Sheriff's Department. The prosecution of these cases has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey Anderson.
